Abstract . In article the attention that the antique care for the self set practices in initial value of Ancient Greek "practice" is focused. Ancient Greek practice of cares for the self, which was implemented Socrates and Alkiviad as a practice of a mentor apprenticeship, and ancient Roman practice of care for the self, which was implemented Cicero and presented to the practice of own behavior, are compared. Both practices, despite a large amount of distinctions, represented a chain of acts: an event or incident – a projection of a possible favorable outcome or result – activity and communication which conduct to a new state – change of level of claims to themselves and another).
