Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of "situation", which has become part of the spiritual and intellectual culture of our time, the essential content of which is the discussions about the "fundamental human situation", "human situation in the world", "condition humana", "spiritual situation of the epoch", " historical situation ", etc. The characteristics of situational (situational-historical) consciousness as an integral part of modern spiritual culture are expressed. The situational approach is considered as a methodological and scientific vector of the situational consciousness, which found its embodiment in the interdisciplinary field of Humanities. Two versions of understanding of the "situation"’s interpretation are described: Hegel in the "Lectures on Aesthetics" and K. Jaspers in the "Spiritual Situation of the Time”. In the Hegelian version, in which the concept of "situation" did not occupy a paramount position, attention is fixed on the fundamental distinction: the condition - the situation - the collision. In the version of K. Jaspers, in which the concepts "situation", "spiritual situation" play a significant role, the emphasis is on the situational grounding of the primordiality of the individual principle.
Keywords : situation, situational-historical consciousness, situational approach, condition, collision, the principle of the primordiality of the individual.
