Abstract . In the medical literature we find many scientific descriptions of pathological deviations from the norm of individual health, as well as methods to eliminate them. Scientific medicine has achieved impressive results in the diagnostic and treatment of illnesses, at the same time, medical treatment strategies are becoming more aggressive, risky and toxic to humans. In their common mind people develop negative notions of illness as an unwanted condition, dysfunction, pain, suffering, loss of self-control, addiction. And no medical textbook describe how a sick person experiences illness and its treatment process, how they affect his life, his thoughts and behavior. In addition, there is no description of how a sick person should live through his illness in order to recover. This article presents a reflexive analysis of the personal history of the experience of a serious illness and medical treatment. It discusses the problem of the gap, contradictions between perceptions of the borderline of health and disease in medical practice and in the everyday life of ordinary people. As well as the influence of this gap on the process of treatment and recovery.
Key words: health and illness, boarder situation of illness, medical treatment, healing, body, norm and pathology.
